Our excursion to the markets of Teror and San Mateo in the centre of Gran Canaria takes place on Sundays, so what better way to enjoy this day than by shopping for local products.
Pick up begins in the touristic areas of Gran Canaria. If you are in Puerto de Mogan, Arguineguin, Maspalomas, Playa del Inglés and Las Palmas, our guide will pick you up at your hotel or at a nearby point to set off for Teror.
Teror, also known as Villa Mariana, is one of the most important towns in Gran Canaria. Here you can visit Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Pino, patron saint of Canary Islands together with Virgin of Candelaria in Tenerife; a place of pilgrimage for all Gran Canarians and Canarians from other islands. In September the festivities to Virgen del Pino are celebrated, filling the whole Marian village with colour, offerings, dance and joy.
Enjoy your free time visiting handicraft and gastronomic stalls of Canary Islands where you can find handmade products made of leather, palm leaves and clay among others, while you taste the traditional Canarian flavours. Try the famous Chorizo de Teror, sweet black pudding or handmade cheese while you shop in a different way. What better way to enjoy a Sunday?
In addition, in this open-air market, you can appreciate the typical Canarian balconies that surround Plaza del Pino; listen to the music of Canarian folklore while watching the dancers in their colourful Canarian clothes; and even dance to the sound of the verbena music that plays in one of the small stages that are there.
After several hours of free time, we set off for San Mateo; another of the most renowned towns on the island of Gran Canaria. In the Vega you can enjoy a covered market where you can buy fruit and vegetables from the farmers of San Mateo and surrounding villages; try the tasty cheeses, honey, gofio (a type of bread) and typical sweets of the island; and get to know the Canarian tradition by the hand of the products that our artisans make with passion with threads (openwork clothing), clay, cork and palm leaves. Here you can also enjoy the folkloric tradition of the islands and a live band of verbena music. Join the party!
Lose yourself in the streets of Vega de San Mateo and get to know its church hidden from the crowd in the Old Town. We recommend that you walk through its narrow streets until you reach the famous San Mateo Cake Shop, where we invite you to taste its products made with almonds . Without a doubt, a gift for the palate!

There are no pick-ups in Las Palmas. Exact pick-up information will be confirmed once the reservation is made. These times may be affected by external factors such as group size, incidents during the tour and/or other variables beyond our control.

Is there a child's price?
Children of two and over usually use a seat and pay as adults, except on those excursions which specify a different price for them, in this case we will always state up to which age.
In general terms, on our excursions, all children from 2 - 11 years, will have a special price which is clearly indicated.
Are the seats and buses pre-assigned?
Usually, the seats are not assigned. Clients choose a seat as the pickups progress. To avoid the last passengers (families, groups) being split up, people are requested to sit 2 by 2 and not to occupy separate window seats, unless in a group of uneven number.
On the other hand, some of our excursions have a StarService that guarantees your seats together, preferential boarding of the bus and a bottle of water per person.
In cases where there is more than one bus, these will follow a preprogrammed route organised by the office, so if you wish to travel with other passengers who have a different pickup point, you should let us know with due notice or ask for the same pickup point as the rest of your friends/family.
In exceptional cases some excursions will have an assigned transport, in which case we'll let you know when you make your reservation and will try to give you some details by which to identify our buses.
Is food included in the excursions?
Depending on the area in which we are operating, you can choose to buy the excursion with food included or not.
You are free to choose whatever suits you best. Nevertheless, although you have not chosen to include food, you can always change your mind and pay for this directly in the restaurant.

If your reservation is canceled within 24 hours prior to the service or you don't show up, there will be not refund.
The provider reserves the right to cancel the reservation at any time due to logistical problems or when it does not reach the minimum number of participants to carry out the excursion with guarantees.

Excellent trip not spoiled by the rain an Tom was an absolutely excellent entertaining and knowledge guide. Would highly recommend the trip as we saw a part of Gran Canaria we haven't seen in 20 years of visiting the island
