Business hours in Gran Canaria

OPERNING HOURS IN GRAN CANARIA

The commercial opening hours in Gran Canaria are a little bit variable depending on the area of the island we are talking about, but as a rule the biggest shops and shopping centres are usually open from 10:00-22:00 from Monday to Saturday.

Having said that, the shopping centres located in the city of Las Palmas and which depend on the port authority or which are between the port and the Las Arenas shopping centre, located east at the end of Las Canteras beach, open every Sunday of the year or at least are authorised to do so.

The avenues and small shops are open from 10:00-13:00 and from 16:00- 20:00 also from Monday to Saturday. This is typical for all of Spain and the Canary Islands, despite the importance of the tourist sector, it is still respected and we are talking about the famous SIESTA in Spain.

In addition, in this time of the day when most shops are closed, the number of people in bars and restaurants increases, so the cities and tourist areas don't rest.

Also, it is worth noting that during the cruise season, which runs from September to April, the shops in the capital remain open on Sundays to meet the demand of new visitors whose ships dock on our island.

Finally, at the end of the year, during the Christmas season, small shops and shopping centres tend to extend their opening hours to offer a better service to all those who are looking for a detail for family or friends. They also open on Sundays and on January 5th at special times until 00:00h.

Without a doubt, something you cannot miss are the Christmas markets and the local markets (almost always on Sundays, full of Canarian products and crafts).
