Poema del Mar Aquarium

Poema del Mar is an aquarium located in the city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and has the biggest salt water tank in Europe. It is a continuous aquatic space of 37 metres long, with a capacity of more than 4,000 cubic metres of water, in which you will find around 350 species from 35 different ecosystems, in enclosures in which you will be able to observe specimens such as freshwater rays, tuna, sharks, fish without eyes and black piranhas from Peru, among others.

The aquarium, built at the end of 2018, has become one of the most important attractions in Gran Canaria, attracting many visitors who are delighted with this perfect setting in the heart of the capital city

It has been considered one of the most spectacular aquariums in Europe, with a macro tank that houses an oceanic environment, known as "El Veril" in which there is room for large migrants, large marine species, as well as Canarian species from special areas of Gran Canaria such as more than 100 moray eels, green and old cockerels, among others. In short, a space for marine biodiversity representative of the Canary Islands, where the pejeperro becomes the main species, as it is in a vulnerable and protected situation.

The biggest attraction is the Central pool which has a spectacular tunnel with the largest curved glass in the world, which gives us the possibility to contemplate an ecosystem that is very difficult to observe.

The tour starts in the first of the three areas that the aquarium has: The Jungle. Here, you will feel that you are traveling to the five continents and thus enjoy the most spectacular marine landscapes in the world. We will continue through the Reef, the great acrylic cylinder, where you will be able to contemplate the great variety of colors of coral and fish. Finally, the route ends in the Deep Ocean: the central pool, one of the great attractions of the aquarium, the largest exhibition window in the world where we can contemplate an ecosystem that is very difficult to observe and which makes this enclosure one of the world's reference points.
