Las Palmas Carnival allegory in 2024

Great Carnival and Parade of Las Palmas

The great Carnival of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, one of the oldest and most historic festivals in Spain. From 1521 to the present day, this great carnival is considered a festival of tourist and national interest. The Canary Islands are a land of contrasts and traditions but above all of influences from all the visitors who every year decide to come to the archipelago for holidays or perhaps even to settle in our beautiful islands. All this influence can be clearly seen in the south of Gran Canaria: varied gastronomy, Canarian fusions with other countries, people of different cultures and nationalities.

The allegory of this year 2024 will be based on the "Carnivals of the World", without a doubt a great theme that gives a lot of play and opens up a wide range of possibilities on which we could base our best costume.
With this theme there is no better opportunity to learn and enjoy the various ways of celebrating carnivals, what a great moment to show off the extensive diversity on the island!

The carnival will run for 4 weeks during the months of January and February, starting on Thursday, 25th January, with the announcing parade from Parque de Santa Catalina to the Plaza Belén María, and the opening speech, which will be given in the same square. The famous and eagerly awaited Queen's Gala is on Friday, 9th February, where the glitter and sparkle of the candidates' splendid dresses will leave everyone spellbound. On the other hand, the Drag Gala will be on Friday 16th February, where there is already an impatient crowd wanting to watch the impressive shows that the candidates have prepared in order to take home the crown.

And don't forget that on Saturday, February 17th, the Grand Cavalcade will take place! Music, laughter and joy will cover the streets of the capital so that finally after a long parade, the colourful celebration of this year 2024 will end the following day with the Burial of the Sardine.

The Carnival of Las Palmas is undoubtedly a great attraction, both for visitors and residents of the Canary Islands, as many of them travel between islands to enjoy the Carnival route.

Don't hesitate to put on your costume and get caught up in the joy of the people of the Canary Islands with this special celebration!
