How to get to Granada

In the heart of eastern Andalusia and located in the southeast of the Iberian Peninsula, the city sits on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada and very close to the Mediterranean.

You can get to Granada by practically any means of transport, from the sea, by air or by road.

By boat:

Granada has the port of Motril on Costa Tropical, just 70 kilometres from the capital. There are regular lines with North Africa (shipping company Armas and Frs) and it is also a port of call for cruise ships throughout the year.

Regular lines from the port of Motril: Melilla, Tanger, Nador and Al Hoceima.

The port is located in delta of river Guadalfeo, in the municipality of Motril in Granada, and dates back to 1908. It was built mainly driven by the boom in the sugar cane industry seeking to market and export it along with iron and salt. Nowadays it is a fishing port as well as sports and commercial.


By road:
By car
  • From the Costa Tropical (Motril, Salobreña or Almuñecar) on the A-44
  • From Malaga or Seville on the A-92
  • From Levante on the A-7 and A-92 and
  • From Madrid on the A-44 and A-4.

 

By bus

To Granada bus station located in Avenida Juan Pablo II s/n in Almanjayar district. There is regular lines with whole peninsula and with some European capitals.

By train:

For a very short time Granada has had high-speed AVE lines with Madrid, Barcelona and Seville with stops in cities as important as Cordoba and Zaragoza, among others. Train station of Granada is located in Avenida de Andaluces, 20 very close to the center of the city.

 

By plane:

Our airport Granada-Jaén is located just 15 kilometers from the capital. Málaga Airport is close to Granada so it is also a good option if you want to know our beautiful city and you can't find a direct flight to Granada. From our airport we have direct flights to the following Spanish cities: Barcelona, Bilbao, Gran Canaria, Madrid, Melilla, Palma de Mallorca, Tenerife and Valencia.
