BUSINESS HOURS IN TENERIFE

Depending on the time of year, shops generally have a different schedule. Thus, as a rule, large commercial areas have uninterrupted opening hours from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm from Monday to Saturday. Catering and leisure businesses change this timetable slightly from 9:00 am to 00:00 am (or more in some cases such as cinemas) during the week, and increasing to 02:00 am in some restaurants at weekends; including Sundays when only leisure and catering businesses are open.

As for the commercial avenues and smaller shops, they usually have a split schedule, that is, they open at 09:00h and close at noon between 12:00h - 14:00h for staff rest and lunch, and reopen between 16:00h - 17:00h until 21:00h. On Sundays, most of these establishments are closed, with the exception of restaurants, bars and cafeterias.

In the summer, shops usually open an hour before and close an hour after to cover the needs of visitors to the island, especially in the areas of greatest tourist influx such as Puerto de la Cruz, Santa Cruz or Adeje. In addition, if we talk about the nightlife (bars, pubs and clubs) are usually open until 04:00 am.

Finally, during the cruise and Christmas season, shops are usually open on Sundays to offer tourists a good service, and to finish the last day's Christmas shopping. These are open from 9:00 am to 11:00 pm, which is reduced on 24 and 31 December until 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm and extended until midnight on 5 January. It should also be noted that shops are closed on Christmas, New Year's Day, Three Kings Day and Canary Islands Day.
