Official currency: In Tenerife, which belongs to the Spanish State and therefore to the European Union, the Euro is used. You will have no problems exchanging currency if you come from a region outside the European Union where the Euro is not used. At Tenerife Airports (2), you will be able to find some currency exchange establishments without commission.
Time difference: The Canary Islands have a time difference of one hour less than the rest of Spain, so don't forget to change your watch when you visit Tenerife!
Language: The official language in Tenerife is the same as in the rest of Spain: Spanish. Although it is also true that, as in all regions of the country, the Canary Islands have their own words and expressions inherited from the Guanches and the South American influence on the islands. Words such as Guagua, playeras, Gofio, enyesque are a true reflection of these canarismos.
