Teide National Park
Teide National Park
Teide National Park is the biggest of the Canary Islands and it is an unmissable tour for anyone who decides to visit Tenerife.
It is a breathtaking landscape that leaves everyone speechless. It is a unique landscape of craters, volcanoes and condensed lava rivers that surround the magnificent silhouette of Teide Volcano. This volcano is considered the third biggest in the world and the highest in Spain.
It can be visited either by guided tours or hiking, and have the opportunity to walk and learn about this great masterpiece of nature. All visitors find many facilities and enjoy a comfortable space to recover energy and observe the wonderful views from its Visitor Center with restaurants and many viewpoints.
It has two accommodations: Parador Nacional de Las Cañadas del Teide and Altavista Refuge at 3270 metres above sea level.
It is one of the 12 Spanish Treasures. The entire Park is a unique geological treasure in which its craters, rock formations, condensed lava rivers and panoramic views give the sensation of visiting the Great Canyon.
Teide is part of the Teide National Park which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO on 28 June 2007. It is also a Protected Natural Area and considered the most emblematic natural monument of the Canary Islands.
On the other hand, the weather on Teide is a mystery. It is variable and therefore we recommend you to plan in advance what warm clothes you are going to wear; as usually the temperature on Teide is around 4ºC.
Activities to do in Teide:
Since you start with the tour, either by car or hiking, the whole trip will be a real journey in which you will discover the most authentic of Tenerife, go hiking or maybe taste some of the traditional Canarian gastronomy in a local restaurant.
When you arrive at the first Parador, you can relax or take the cableway which takes 8 minutes and is a really hair-raising experience. Even if you have taken the cableway to the top station, you still can't say that you have been on the highest point of Teide as there is a footpath leading up to the crater. It takes about 35-40 minutes and has a high difficulty, but you can boast that you have been on the highest peak in Spain.
You can do hiking routes either on your own or with a professional guide who will take you to the most beautiful and special places in the area.
