How to get to Lanzarote

Airport history and connections

It was in 1930, when it was decided that it was finally necessary to build an airfield on the island of Lanzarote, for them one was carried out in the Llanos de Guacimeta. and it was not until 1946 when Civilian transit was allowed. Reforms were carried out and a new passenger terminal was created.  The Arrecife Airport, whose official name is Aeropuerto César Manrique - Lanzarote is located in the centre of Lanzarote, in the municipality of San Bartolomé and five kilometres from Arrecife.

This airport although compared to others may seem small moves about 8 million passengers approximately every year, having only one runway of 2,500 meters, 2 passenger terminals and only 17 boarding gates.  It has excellent air connections that adapt to all possibilities.

The most used connections by national travellers are from Madrid or Barcelona although there are also direct flights from Santiago, Seville, Valladolid... On the other hand it also offers direct flights to different European destinations such as the United Kingdom, Germany, Netherlands, Italy...

How to get to the hotel from the airport

From the airport there are four different bus lines that connect you to the whole island, the price may vary according to the distance but it ranges between 1.40 and 5 euros.

In this airport there is also a taxi rank and the average price to the tourist areas is 20€.  This is the least recommended option as the prices are usually excessive compared to other means of transport.

On the other hand we find the option of renting a car which allows you to visit Lanzarote at your own pace. The roads of Lanzarote are not excessively complicated so many people decide to rent a car to discover the island. Booking a car is very easy, you can do it from our website in very simple steps or you can do it directly at the airport.

Also some hotels offer free service of Transfer for what we advise you to consult your reservation before coming since the majority of the times it is the client the one who must request it. Apart from the hotels there are also other companies that have private transfer services although they are usually expensive.
