Typical food

Canarian gastronomy offers the taste buds a mixture of exceptional flavours. The mixture of flavours and the originality of its dishes thanks to the different influences that have passed through the islands make it a unique gastronomy. Therefore, if you visit Lanzarote you should not miss these typical dishes:

  • Papas arrugadas (wrinkled potatoes) with Mojo sauce:

The most emblematic dish of the Canary Islands. This simple but delicious dish is one of the most traditional dishes of the islands. It consists of potatoes cooked with their skins and coarse salt and is accompanied by red or green Mojo (a typical Canarian sauce that you should not miss) which is made with garlic, parsley, olive oil, coriander, paprika and salt.

  • Fish broth:

Another traditional dish from Lanzarote and the Canary Islands in general. It could be described as a soup made from fresh fish, potatoes and different vegetables and spices. This dish has a special reputation due to the great fishing influence of the islands: surrounded by the sea, how could it not be a good idea to try the products of the sea?

  • Lapas:

In Lanzarote, as you would expect, there is a lot of exploitation of seafood due to the proximity of its villages to the coast. And another example of this is the Lapas that are usually served grilled with green mojo on top. A contrast you can't miss!

  • Beef or goat meal:

Another of the most popular dishes on the island.  There are few visitors who do not ask for a tapa of goat meat, which is usually prepared in various ways: fried, marinated, in sauce... This meat has an exquisite taste and texture that will make you enjoy every bite.
