Here we tell you which are the best areas to stay if you come to Lanzarote, depending on the type of trip you are planning. If you love sports like windsurfing, your area is west coast, perfect for surfers. If you want to enjoy beaches and tranquility, the north is your option. But if you want to enjoy a wide range of leisure activities and internationally well-known beaches, the south and east area are the best options.

Northern zone: Órzola and Playa de Famara

These areas are the quietest. They are great for discovering the must-sees in the north of Lanzarote like Jameos del Agua or Cueva de los Verdes, as well as the Mirador del Risco de Famara; and also to do water sports like windsurfing or kitesurfing thanks to the influence of the wind or to enjoy its wonderful coves. From here you can appreciate the Chinijo Archipelago and above all the eighth Canarian island: La Graciosa.

Northeast Zone: Arrieta

This coastal town is characterized by the relaxation and tranquility that visitors can enjoy. A recommended area for a holiday to disconnect with family or friends where you can do water sports such as snorkeling or diving in Playa de la Garita. It is also close to the northern tourist centres such as Mirador del Río or Cueva de los Verdes.

Eastern Zone: Costa Teguise and Arrecife

The capital of Lanzarote, Arrecife has a wide range of shopping and nightlife as well as tourist attractions such as Fortress of San Jose and San Gabriel or San Ginés Pond. This town has the perfect combination of leisure, beaches and shopping as well as good connections to other important municipalities of the island such as Costa Teguise. Costa Teguise, on the other hand, is one of the most touristic areas of Lanzarote with the largest influx of visitors thanks to all it has to offer: impressive beaches, leisure areas, water sports, shopping avenues and gastronomy.

Southeast Zone: Puerto del Carmen and Playa Honda

Puerto del Carmen is the touristic centre par excellence where you can enjoy a wide range of leisure, shopping and gastronomy options as well as enjoy its beaches and nightlife. This area is ideal if you are travelling with your family and children or if you prefer to come with friends and take advantage of the range of bars and pubs that Puerto del Carmen has to offer. Playa Honda is another of the quieter areas that visitors choose to spend their holidays in Lanzarote thanks to its proximity to Arrecife and Puerto del Carmen. A place where you can relax on its magnificent beaches and on whose maritime avenue you can enjoy a long walk while you decide on which terrace to stop and taste the Canarian gastronomy.

South Zone: Playa Blanca

This town in the south of Lanzarote has the most modern range of hotels on the island. This tourist enclave has become one of the most visited destinations thanks to its growth, offering the visitor a wide range of shopping, leisure and corners on the coast that leave no one indifferent. Here you can find the natural pools of Los Charcones, Papagayo Beaches and the famous Playa Blanca Market, its most important tourist attractions.

Central Zone: San Bartolomé and Puerto Calero

If you are in the south-central area of the Island, San Bartolomé and Puerto Calero are two great options. Take advantage of the opportunity to do water sports such as snorkelling, diving or fishing; go for a walk in Ajaches and spend your holidays in a rural setting away from the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas. Another way to take advantage of the many options that Lanzarote has to offer.
