2 days itinerary in Lanzarote

If you are planning to make an express visit to Lanzarote, here we give you a itinerary of 2 days:

Day 1: Tour Highlights

We will visit:
  • National Park of Timanfaya
  • Jameos del Agua
  • Cueva de los Verdes (Green Cave)

We head to the "Timanfaya National Park", where we will first do the geothermal demonstrations on the Islet of Hilario and then make the more than spectacular "Route of the Volcanoes".

This National Park lies under a thick blanket of lava and ash that makes the landscape look like something out of a science fiction film, so the bus tour of Timanfaya is without doubt an unforgettable experience that no tourist should miss.

Continuing with the Corona Volcano where you can enjoy the views of the 2 great jewels of the island of Lanzarote: the crater that originated the Cueva de los Verdes and Jameos del Agua.

We discover the volcanic nature, always present in the work of César Manrique, during a visit to the Cueva de los Verdes: the longest lava tunnel in the world.

Cueva de los Verdes in Lanzarote is one of the three jewels in Lanzarote's crown, along with Jameos del Agua and the Timanfaya Natural Park with its Volcanoes Route. The galleries of this tunnel were used by the ancient inhabitants of the island to protect themselves from slave hunters and pirates in the 17th century.

If you want to know more about Cueva de los Verdes and its prices, you will find them in our travel guide.

During your visit to Cueva de los Verdes, the guide will mention all kinds of secrets and peculiarities of this unique area of the island.

Timanfaya Jameos El golfo

And once we have visited the Cueva de los Verdes, we have Jameos del Agua with its beautiful crystalline waters and interior auditorium.

This pool of crystalline blue waters on a beautiful white background. All of this is surrounded by native flora, including the typical Canarian palm trees and a great diversity of cactus.

It is forbidden to swim in this pool because there are animals native to the island that are found in these waters. These animals are known as jameitos or Cangrejo blanco / albino.

For more information about Jameos del Agua we recommend you to read our travel guide.

Day 2César Manrique Tour

We will visit:
  • Jameos del Agua
  • Mirador del Río
  • Jardín de Cactus (Cactus Garden)
  • César Manrique Foundation

On this tour you can marvel at all of César Manrique's works in one day, starting with his Monumento al Campesino and then you will come across one of the jewels in the crown: the Mirador del Río.

At this beautiful spot you can see the Chinijo archipelago in this amazing landscape that is worth stopping to take pictures worthy of being framed.

To find out more about the Mirador del Rio or perhaps visit on your own, we recommend you read our travel guide where you will also find their price table.

Descending next down the Corona Volcano, we visit one of the most impressive caves on the island: Jameos del Agua.

Then there is the Cactus Garden, the artist's latest work, where the volcanic landscape merges in a unique way with the island's vegetation.

Finally there is the César Manrique Foundation, the artist's former home which has now been converted into a house-museum that is perfectly integrated into the surrounding volcanic land.
