La Geria - Wine Route

LA GERIA: A spectacular landscape sculpted by the islanders and a unique way of growing wine taking advantage of the volcanic nature of Lanzarote.

It is one of the most representative and characteristic areas of Lanzarote. The area of La Geria sums up the essence of the land of Lanzarote, being the largest area of vine cultivation on the island. La Geria is commonly known for the route of the wines, where many wineries are concentrated in which some of the most reputable wines of the Canary Islands and Spain are produced.

This peculiar landscape was the result of the volcanic eruptions of 1730 to 1736 in Timanfaya, which man managed to protect through excavations in the ground and stone walls. Another example of the good work of conejeros in the treatment of the landscape, achieving an improvement on it and actively taking part in the economy of the island.
