Festivities Days in Lanzarote

For this year the labour calendar of Lanzarote has a total of 12 festive days, which eight are of a national character, that is to say that they will be common to the rest of the communities of Spain according to the calendar of the General Direction of Labour, and four autonomic, which are decided by the Governments of each Autonomic Community and that therefore they can be different in each one of them.

With respect to the four regional days, the festivity of November 1st has been substituted since this year it is a Sunday to add May 30th, the Canary Islands Day festivity, to the calendar. At the same time the feast of July 25th (Santiago Apostle) will be changed so that each island will set the traditional holiday to each of them, in Lanzarote, will be on September 16th.

 

 

It should be noted that each municipality of the island will also set two days with local holidays, which will also count as holidays in the respective work calendars of each municipality.  You must take into account these dates as both the commercial areas, restaurants, etc. as well as public offices may suffer changes in their schedule and even close during that day. 

Therefore, according to the application of state legislation, the following days are public holidays on the island of Lanzarote: 

  • 1 January (New Year's Day)
  • 6 January (Epiphany of the Lord)
  • 28 March (Maundy Thursday)* - Holy Week varies from year to year so these dates vary annually*.
  • 29 March (Holy Friday)- Holy Week varies from year to year so these dates vary annually*.
  • 1 May (Labour Day)
  • 30 May (Canary Islands Day)
  • 15 August (Assumption of the Blessed Virgin)
  • 16 September (Our Lady of Sorrows) 
  • 12 October (Columbus Day)
  • 1 November (All Saints' Day)
  • 6 December (Constitution Day)
  • 25 December (Nativity of the Lord)
